CFM RISE: Taking Sustainable Aviation to New Heights!

January 18, 2024

Millat Industries has been awarded two exciting projects for the CFM RISE Engine Development.  The CFM RISE (Revolutionary Innovation for Sustainable Engines) is a program launched by CFM International, the joint venture between GE Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines, with the aim to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by more than 20 percent with the introduction of hybrid electric technologies, open fan architecture, as well as compatibility with alternative energy sources like sustainable aviation fuels and hydrogen. CFM and Airbus announced plans to start flight tests for the RISE engine on an Airbus A380-based testbed in 2026. These engines could enter service by the mid 2030’s. The specific assemblies that Millat Industries is supplying feature extremely tight tolerances, difficult geometries, super alloy materials, and extensive special processes including Heat Treat, Weld, Assembly, Special Grit Blasting, and Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection. The projects also demonstrated our ability to work collaboratively with our customer’s design team to produce a manufacturable design that meets their challenging design requirements. Millat Industries is proud to be a part of this revolutionary innovation whose impact will help define the future of sustainable air travel.
